Was thinking of using a Berkley Vanish 20 lb leader. Anyone use this or what do you like? I was wondering if this sucks mostly. BP

In my opinion, Vanish mostly sucks. I've run P-Line fluoroclear in 30# test for my leaders for the past two years and like it an awful lot.

They call it Vanish for a reason. Anything tied on the end of it will Vanish when it breaks. The stuff is pure, unadultered junk.

Stick with Seaguar

No to Vanish. Bought a spool of 8lb test a few years back. Got it home and peeled some out. Grabbed hold of the end and gave it a yank. Snappped like a 4 lb test. It went from there into the trash and took my losses. Pline 100% flourocarbon has been doing it for us for the light line Browns. Haven't tried the heavier stuff yet but when a Brand of light line is good usually the heavy stuff is good to.

Yikes!!! Maybe thats why Berkley is changing the name next year to Trilene Flourocarbon (new formula hopefully) I must say I have used 2 lb and 4 lb for perch and smallys without too many problems but I do remember it breaking a few times. Ill take your word on the heavy stuff. I wonder how Cabelas Flouro works???

As far as I'm concerned seaguar is the best bet. I have landed many steely over 15lbs on 4lb seaguar after they ran me through all kinds of rocks and snags. Seguar line is just plain tough, I've been amazed at the abuse it can take and still hold up.

30 lb suffix. Line ties great and is very tough. Handles abrassion very good. Fleas do not stick to it either. The line is kind of new to the area but has been in salt water for years.
