Soft Baits For Trolling Salmon?

Are soft baits any good for trying to catch salmon in deep water? I have a few soft baits they are about 2.5-3 inches long and they look like a fish with a single hook coming out the back.

The one I have pretty much looks like the second one from the top.

Good question, I've been wondering the same. I was in a tackle shop in Maine yesterday looking at a wall of those (Storm, I think), wondering if I could use them straight off the back for trout or salmon back on Lake Ontario. Stocked up on line, swivels and trebles instead.

I'm going to try it this weekend on a dipsy and see what happens, I'd try it on a cheater but I dont think it has enough drag to make a bow in the main line.
