Did any of you guys have a chance to compare this planer board equipment?

I hear that Otter Boats with 2 stabilizers underneath will sink when the tow line breaks off.Is this true??

Giving credit to Chromeslayer for this...

You need the HALF KEEL when adding the second keel. I ordered a set from Big Jon yesterday for about $45 each. They come with the attaching hardware. Kevin in the Service Dept. will tell you how to modify the boards when installing the half keel. The half keel is a full size keel but has only 1/2 of the lead wieght. The boards will sink with double full keels but, not with the half keels.

Thanks Chromeslayer!

save the otters for back up & get a pair of these http://www.auroralitestackle.com/planerboards.html

Called a bunch of Erie Captains who fish boards everyday and the Auroralites were their top pick. I got the regular doubles and they are awesome for copper & core and flatlines too. I keep my Otters in the little boat and still use em but they just are not half the board these things are.

I believe that those are very good indeed, only problem is that they cost more than a fish hawk X4 unit, $516 is a lot of money for boards

The idea to get the bigger boards won out,I ordered the riviera triple boards. I'll probably put the otter boards up for sale.

I got a set of the Auroralite original size boards a couple years ago, they were around $275, look at the Amish outfitter HD boards , they were cheaper , I was just leery about having to reinforce my planer arch! Also Ernie L. has plans kicking around out there for his triple boards.

I've got the Amish Outfitter redwood boards and they pull a lot harder the otter boats even with the extra 1/2 keel.
