Ok so with all these Canadian customs stuff going on i decided to call to find out first hand whats going on. So come to find out they are now enforcing a rule where if you go into Canadian water without have some sort of BS pass thing you have to pay for you will get fined or have your boat confiscated.

And as much as I hate to do this as I normally chase the salmon wherever they go on this lake i think its time where we all refuse to buy Canadian licenses and BOYCOTT Canada all together until this problem is resolved.

This issue will not fix itself unless we take a stand. to all the fishermen in Canada I’m sorry this not an attack on you as i have read posts on other sites saying how many of you don't approve and all i want is to go back to being friendly neighbors.

I agree 100%. Stick the Canadian License! The kid at the ST Lawrence 2 weeks ago almost lost his boat and $1,000 fine even though he had the license. The US state dept even confirmed the ruling was proper, only problem was they never enforced it for the last 30 years and now all of a sudden we are suppose to call in in order to fish on border waters? If enough sportsman dont buy the license, they'll get the message.

That's not "new." It's called a pleasure craft operators card. Everyone in Canada is required to have one if operating a boat. Similar to how in PA you need to ave passed their boaters safety exam. From what I am told most Canadians don't even have the card, so if you do opt to get it you look a lot better to whomever is pulling you over. You can take the test online, or I too mine through Sea Tech Marine Training.

I have that Canadien operators card also, along with pass port and charter license (orange book ) and Canadien fishing license and 3 year Canadien license card, And my NY REGISTRATION number IS IN THEIR SYSTEM (RUNNIN REBEL in Whitby LAST YEAR), and my vehicles were in the "CAN-PASS" quick entry system. All said I was held up over 2 hours in the same Whitby tourny as O BABY. They looked for Mace-Pepper spray-HAIR SPRAY-meats -vegtables-alchohol- AND FORGET ABOUT A FLARE GUN (which is 12 gauge). We passed after MANY QUESTIONS by me.

You do not need a Canada Operators card. I don't know where you fellas get that information. Truth is what you need to cross is Called A nexus card. You DO NOT need an Operators card unless you operate a boat for 40 some straight days in Canada. Even then you can stop operating a boat for 1 day and go another 40 some without one. Trust me, Probably no one on this board unlesss they are Canadian spends more time in Canadian waters than I. If you took that Canadian Operators card you wasted your time and money.

I go to Canada twice a year and was also under the impression that if you don't land in Canada, you don't need to check in. I kind of do the opposite, I enter Canada at the Thousand Islands, but often will boat from Canada into the states and back without landing. I guess I would be subjected to the same rule. Heck, the US might nab me, then Canada on the return.

I don't put the blame on Canada for this nonsense, the US started it all with the passport rule and the Dept of Homeland security. I've always been treated with respect and a welcome into Canada, but returning to the states, I sometimes feel like they are treating me like a criminal. Not once has a border guard said, " welcome home' or anything to that effect. As a veteran who gave 3 years service to my country, I sometimes would like to give those cocky guards a piece of my mind. Maybe they need some time chasing armed illegal Mexican drug runners through the desert, to understand how lucky they are to deal with upright citizens.

Shellback, I agree with you. I drive a limo bus part time. These guys treat me and my passengers like we are criminals. Once in a great while, I meet someone freindly at the border but most of the time, we are treated not very nice. I think some of these guys let the gun and uniform go to their head.

I don't think it's them with a big head. I think it is that we were so strong for so long before now that it's payback time. Our dollar was worth almost 50 % more than theirs for a long time. A lot of the world loves the fact we have fallen on some hard times . The strong US economy bought a lot of influence over the years.Those days are over. We are broke & everyone knows it. China's in the drivers seat now. Look for a bigger Chinnese presence in Canada buisness wise in the future. This whole boarder thing is a way of telling us that they don't need us anymore. It is an asertion of power.

Canada has turned into a socialist country anyway. This weekend especialy , we need to remember what & who we are as a country.
