SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

====================

This was my first time out deep using riggers so I should be happy we boated the 1 king that we did, but we could have done a lot better if I hadn't made a mess of the lines. Started north of webster in 120fow or so and coninued north until 240fow with one miss on a flasher and fly. Headed SW and started marking baitfish and fish on screen in 200fow, 70-90 down. 2 riggers popped with only one staying on. A fun 18 lb king that took a dreamweaver wonderbread spoon with no flasher/dodger. Went to reset riggers and just made a mess of things just as it was getting hot. I'll do better next time and make sure my buddy gets one on the end of his line.

Nice job MadPerry - getting the first one is always the hardest. Keep up the good work!

Nice king! You may want to try to run the cheaters on your rigger with spoons. The cheater set up tends to land more fish as opposed to running the rigger without one. Whenever Im running the riggers, I have one set up with spoon and a cheater and the other rigger with a spin doc without cheater. With spin doc on a rigger, you dont want to use a cheater as it will create a mess down there.

Best of luck on the water.

This is sound advice, as I found out that night. We were running 4 poles on 2 riggers. The rigger I had a spin doctor on, I also had a pro troll on. Did not work out. I am going to try what you suggested. Can't wait to get back out and get better at it!
