The father in law wants to go fishing this weekend, told him he needs a license... But the mother in law wants to come along for the ride... If she doesnt touch a rod does she need a license?

Hello......Mother in law,not only does she need a license but she has to row the boat!!!

talk her into gettin a license run 4 coppers (600ft),and let her reel in the coppers :lol:

She doesn't need a fishing license if she's just going along for a boat ride however a Resident One-day fishing license is only $5 so it might be worth it.

She doesn't need a licnese if she is not fishing but you must be aware of what constitutes fishing. I was told many years ago by a DEC officer that when trolling you need a license if you, touch a rod, net a fish, or steer the boat, they are all acts of fishing. It would be easiest to buy her a license.

I think as long as you stick to two rods per person you should have no problems. So if there are two on board with lic. Only run 4 rods and so on.
