We just returned from a five day trip to Olcott. The fishing was good, but not spectacular like it had been for the previous weeks.

Most of our fish were steelies, and would say that in the four days,we probably had around forty or fifty on and boated 2/3 of them. We didn't get any huge ones, although a few were decent fish, between ten and twelve pounds.

As for kings, our biggest was a fish around 18 pounds with the rest from 8 to 14 pounds.we caught around ten or twelve.

Best producers were the wire dipsies with Spin Docs in white/blue,and E-Chips in green followed up with flies in the mirage, hammer, and double aqua patterns.

Hot spoons were the NK kandy korn with the antifreeze green cup,and any spoon in antifreeze. Also hot was a green frog pattern with a white cup.

Almost all our fish,(and everyone elses) were caught out deep from the 30 to 33 lines in 470 to 520 feet of water with the best rigger depth at 50' with free sliders on them taking the most fish.Dipsies were best at 100 to 150 feet back

Overall it was a good trip, but nothing phenominal, we only took two pics the whole time. We kept waiting for that big steelie,as we were in the olcott derby which had a minimum weight for steelies at 15lbs.

I spoke to them up there today and was told no one got a qualifying steelie.Thrillseeker's Vinnie P. got the winning king,a bit over 25lbs.

Oh well, it was better than being at work or mowing the lawn. We'll be back in about three weeks, for eight days of fishing ,hope the big kings are in by then.
