Thinking of making a trip in the next couple of weeks over to someplace between Niagara, and Rochester. Any wise choices anyone? I have never fished the New York side, thought it might be good for a change!

Wilson, Olcott, Oak Orchard, Sandy Creek, Genesee River and Irondequoit Bay are all good places to fish. Wilson / Olcott seem to be the most consistant fishing year round on Lake Ontario. That would be my first choice.

You gain almost a hundred feet of water for every mile you go out of Oak Orchard. It doesn't get much easier than that and with the incredible fishing the Oak is having this year the fishing doesn't get much easier either.

I just hope it keeps for a while. Four of us are traveling from SC PA and will be up from 8/17 and leaving 8/21 and hoping to catch our first-ever salmon or trout. Charters are fun but we want to catch some on our own.

I agree about Oak Orchard (Point Breeze, NY). I am too lazy to tow my boat there but It would be my first choice for sure.
