Hello All,

I need to update some of my Rods since it has been awhile and some need replaced. Does anyone have a certain brand they like running these days? Thanks for your help

Diawa Heartland rods are great rods and not expensive. I like the 8'6" rods for riggers and the 7'6" rods for boards. They run around $35.00 each new at most places.

Like Gambler says - Daiwa Heartland 8' 0" or 8' 6" are good. ($35)

But Shakespeare Ugly Stik BWD 1101 8' 3" are my favorite. ($49)

Just bought 2 shakespeare ugly stick 1101 9' for this season and really like them. They're light, forgiving, and tough. Run about $50. Light enough for trout with enough backbone for kings. Plan on buying 2 more but in the 8'3" version (little easier to set)

Bought them for multi purpose use...walleye...trout...salmon. Have worked very well so far on all species.

We run Okuma pro classics at about $30.00 per for our attractors with heavy mono. 81/2 ft MH action.

Shimano Tolaras at about $70.00 per rod for spoons and plugs with lighter mono. 8 1/2ft med action

Have dragged the attractors with the Tolaras on occasion and they are pretty sweet rods.

Pricey but nice and great longevity.

Shakespear Ugly stiks for Browns. 8 1/2 ft light action. To light for salmon in my opinion.

9 ft ugly sticks the best. I have a couple 8'6 heartlands and they are ok but the extra 4 inches makes the rod load up so much better.
