Looking for a few opinions to settle an on board dispute about spoon size. Personally i have only caught salmon on magnum size spoons. I buddy of mine wants to put out the smaller spoons and we don't seem to have success on them? what do you all think?

I use all sizes and catch little ones on big spoons, and catch big ones on little spoons. Sometimes its ridiculous how small the fish is compared to the spoon.

Mags have been great for us since the alewife moved in late Spring, but this May SS's worked great when the Salmon were on the Smelt bite at the bar. We run regular and SS sized spoons 75% of the time.

For the last 4-6 weeks, I to, can't get a mag to go. From spring to mid July, I'ts all I would run and I mostly run the Yeck mags which are 5 1/4" long. They are huge and a few of us were crushing fish of all sizes with them. Lately, the Stingrays have been by far the best, even on the Browns.

Totally agree with scott....those Yeck mags...especially the Obama....were very good for us....now it seems all they want is 28 sized....

When I ran into a pod of fish that had skippies, I threw out those giant mags and caught more quality fish than throw backs. Good luck and tight lines.....
