just bought a 21ft boat, motor ran fine with ear muffs and looked great so i bought it. Took it to the marina and on the water couldnt go past 5mph. Marina mechanics told me i needed a new stator and that was because 2 spark plugs wernt firing? and they told me the compression was low... 70,75 on one side then 90 on the rest.... is this something to tackle or is it New motor time? Any advise before i spend mucho $$$$ into another motor would be great... thanks.

Swap the powerpacks first and see if non firing cylinders switch sides. Had the same issue with. 110 once.

kinda low comp. but the "non firing side" is colder and you will get diff numbers if taken after motor is warm.I would do a cold check if not already done. Id get it to hank if ya can L&M before givin up might be some saving it or no problem at all "major" prob. ALSO IF IT ANT A SAVER MAKE 100% SHURE YOUR TRANSOM IS IN GOOD SHAPE BEFORE BUYING A NEW MOTOR........
