Fishing Report

Your Name / Boat Name: Eric / Scout Dorado

Hello - I'm fairly new to Salmon fishing on the lake, but it's something I tought I can't pass up living right next to this great lake - so bought a boat, some gear and some lures. I have been reading and I can tell you I have much to learn.

? - can you troll j-plugs or spoons yet and in what depth? I'm free all weekend and hope to learn more on the water!

Thanks for your time

Eric

You need to find the salmon - they will be in specific depths.

This time of the year they are generally close to the shore in about 50 feet of water.

You should set your lines as close to the bottom as possible this time of year (not tje case earlier in the season).

Jplugs seem to be the favorite - I also use flies and spoons and see what the fish like best.

Use darker colors now - greens, reds, purples - which similate the changing color of the fish this time of year.

Why the color change? The salmon are getting darker but do the alewives as well? Haven't seen this recommendation before...

The staging kings hit stuff now out of aggression not hunger. There stomachs tighten up and they can not eat. Odd colors produce at this time of the year over natural colors.

Bright obnoxious colors tic them off to smack the lures. Lime green ladderback j-plugs , orange , yellow too.
