Effective tomorrow, Saturday October 1st, the boat launch at Allen Treman state marine park on Cayuga Inlet will be closed for the season to help prevent the spread of the invasive plant hydrilla. The city of Ithaca has asked that all boats refrain from using Cayuga Inlet for any purpose.

Hydrilla forms dense matts with vine like runners up to 25 feet in length- it's far worse than the (horrible) weeds we already have.

As always, it is imperative that boaters remove all vegetation from our boats and trailers each and every time we fish.

That sucks  Closing the launch won't fix the problem but they got to try something. They checked my boat and trailer out last time I was at the launch and they found some hydrilla by the dock, and on some boat trailers in the parking lot. With the amount of water going down that cannel with the rain we have had that weed is probably at the North end by now.
