As long as you are using the same poundage and design weight on your rigger cable it will be the same for all riggers. Do realize that any change to the set up will result in different blow backs. If your out downs have a directional weight your blow back will be different and a difference in depth between your riggers will also change the blow back. A rigger at 100 feet down will obviously be back further than a rigger set at 50 feet down.

Does running your riggers straight off the side cause more blowback vs running them straight off the back?

No.

What Glen said , NO !! Cable in the water dosen't matter if its behind the boat or to the side. More cable in the water=more drag which = more blowback ;)

As said above, running off the side won't cause more blowback BUT given the bow rise & fall when going across waves, you may get some cross-pully wear on your cable at the pulley. This is important when running coated cable & why it is recomended to run the coated stuff straight off the back.
