You may be confusing "Copper" with braided stainless wire. Both Copper line and Dipsey divers are separate ways to attain depth. Copper line does it through weight and sink rate, dipsey divers do it through physics.

If you meant wire, then yes, the wire is knotted or crimped to a swivel. The swivel is snapped to the trip arm. Your mono leader of varying lengths is attached to the bottom.
