IMHO - just make sure it's digital no matter what model you end up buying.

A good digital cam is not all you will need. The video editing software is just as important as the cam.. If you going to do it spend the $$$$$ the first time.

I was looking at video cameras a few months ago......you have built in hard drives, digital tapes, and mini DVD's for storage. ........I like the DVD idea because I don't have to spend any time transferring from camera/tape to DVD disks.......... But i heard mixed reviews on the quality and performance so i ended up not buying anything at this point.......
