Boat: 22' Penn Yan hardtop

Kicker: 9.9 Bigfoot

Problem: very slow turning response with kicker steering

I currently steer with a T-4, and don't want to tie kicker to outdrive.

Having just come from a tourney boat with a bow mount electric that would turn on a dime, I'm having a hard time adjusting to my slow turn response time. I realize it's the nature of the beast. However, last year I talked to a guy who said he saw what he thought was a "homemade, big rudder" attached to the kicker motor on a 27' Sportcraft to help increase the steering response.

Anyone seen such a thing ? It sounds great in principle, and I'm trying to design something for my kicker. The cost of TR-1 autopilot is beyond my current budget.

I'm open for suggestions.

If you find something or come up with something. I would love to know. I too am pushing a 28 with a 9.9. With the T-4. I've thought of many ways...

WoW.

A little internet searching and I think I found a simple solution.

Looks simple enough to fabricate that even I can do it.

I will be making this !!
