Hey guys i've never targeted walleye before, but would like to try it out in the river before the season ends March 15th. I'm looking for some help on how to catch my first walleye. What kind of lures/presentations to use, do i fish rapids or slow moving water, deep or shallow...etc. Really any advice would be very helpful :D Thanks

Are you going to cast or troll? If your going to cast try 3-5" paddle tails on jig head on the edge of the fast water, go deep and slow. Small stick baits also. What river are you talking about?

The two largest NY State walleye record fish were caught before March 15 using twister tails in the Allegany River Reservoir just below Salamanca. According to a Reservation Biologist, the walleye do not spawn in the mud bottom of the reservoir but could be staging there to go upstream into the river where there is a lot of rock and gravel bottom.

I live in Corning, and i don't really have the time to travel very far right now so i'll probably go in the Chemung River
