The main line is what I use for salmon, 30 lb. To that is a barrel swivel and rod length of 10 lb. florocarbon leader. Worked for me last Monday, 6 for 8.

For the last few seasons we have been running 15lb McCoy Mean green and leader it down to 8-10lb McCoy Flouro 100. The heavier mono allows us to use these rods for Coho and Steel, and it allows us to throw on a few colors of lead if necessary. Another nice thing about the heavier mono is your baits wont dive as deep allowing you to get in shallower on those high traffic days or clear water.

However, out east I am told there is no way this set-up would work as the water is really clear and fish are line shy. Works well from Sodus to the West for us.
