i target lakers in close in the adks right after ice out and it can be rediculous, may be the best fishing of the year or them. i know they kill them down by niagara also early in the year so i dont think your buddy catching them is out of the ordinary. might be worth noting down for future trips for spring lakers!

We were catching lakers in 12-15 FOW this weekend trolling close to shore for browns. They were in there cause thats where the bait was. Water temp was about 40-42 degrees.

Is that water temp from henderson? If its that warm already the walleyes will be moving out sooner. That might make it hard for walleye opener. I wouldn't get caught keeping any walleyes right now. The season closed March 15th and won't be opening until 1st Sat in May. Figured I would give everyone else the heads up so if there are some of our law enforcment lurking around.

Smelt, gobies and emerald shiners are more than likely what they are there for. I have caught some really good lakers in shallow in March.

Chas,

Its actually the first Saturday in May, I make that May 5th.

Sorry that is what I meant. My fingers were typing faster than I was thinking.
