Wanted to add some new spoons to the box for spring browns. I know a bunch of different mfg. make them. Which ones seem to produce the best? Sizes, colors, etc. ? Thanks

THE NK28 Gold/Copper backed has been the top producer for me. Here is post from a little while back and this spoon was on FIRE !!!

ACTION WAS FAST PACED AND NON STOP. STARTED WITH A DOUBLE AND EVERYTHING FIRED FROM RIGGERS TO DIPSEYS. HOT SPOON WAS GOLD BACKED GOBY ACCOUNTING FOR 7 OUT OF 10 HITS. ALL BROWNS CAME FROM 120-180 RANGE AND KINGS WERE PARKED AT 230. GREEN SPIN DR/ GREEN FLY DID THE JOB ON THE KINGS.

Eppinger Black Evil-Eyes, Michigan Stinger S109 Mayfly and R288 Glow Goby, Wolverine Tackle Silver Streak 09 Brown Trout, Northport Nailer K-26 and K30, Dreamweaver SS1381 and SS1653. Savant Jake used to have the best pattern but I see they are not being offered anymore in that color?

for spring browns what is the best way to run these spoons and how fast?

Depending on water color and clarity you can run these from 30-100' back off a rigger down anywhere from 3-10' depending on your depth of water. You can also flatline these off boards just use longer leads. as far as speed goes, let the fish tell you. sometimes as slow as 1.8 and sometimes they want it 2.5. dont be afraid to experiment and change speed

A technique that has been used since at least the 80's is to put various split shot weights ahead of the spoon. Deeper depths can be achieved with rubbercore sinkers. Go high in the water column early and then drop your baits deeper, later in the day is a good rule of thumb. Lighter weights on the outside lines, heavier weights on the inside lines when using planer boards.
