Any of you Scotty guys found a good replacement cord for the weight retrievers?

I find after a couple seasons the cord wears and doesn't grip very well when you have the weight hanging by the side of the boat.

Anybody else have this problem?

Thanks

I have the same problem w/ my weight retrievers. I was thinking of tying a knot in the cord so when it slips it stops at the knot. I'm not sure if it will work but it's worth a try. If it doesn't work thaen I guess I'll have to buy new retrievers.

I have not had to do it yet, But I have been on two other boats with the same issue and have tied knots in the cords to solve the problem.

You might want to try some chainsaw rewind rope if you can find the right diameter, maybe a little heavier than what Scotty uses.

Try pull starter rope for the old Evinrudes.

You can get it by the foot at most marinas and it is way tougher than regular rope.

Reverse the rope end for end or keep the good part & tie something else into the end nearest the rigger cable . I tied in some planner line (4-6") at the cable end & its been working great for a couple yrs. just my $.02
