From what I have read the limit for lakers on Keuka is 3 per person just like the other fingerlakes.

I know there was some discussion about maybe raising the limit.

Is it still 3?

For all fingerlakes:

5 in combination (catch shall include no more than 3 lake trout or 3 landlocked salmon)

Also for all trout and salmon:

15" except 9" for rainbow trout in Owasco Lake and Skaneateles Lake and 18" for landlocked salmon in Cayuga Lake.

Copied off the DEC website.

Thanks zern, I have read that...

Sometimes there are regulations that change mid license year that may not show up in that particular page.

Does anyone know if there any plans to change the limit of lakers on Keuka?

Sorry Reel. I shouldn't read so fast. I thought ya just wanted ta know what the limits are. I am punishing myself by wading thru the DEC web site. And punishment is right

I found this:

http://www.dec.ny.gov/regulations/79970.html

I did see where the comment for these changes just ended on April 2nd.

But, when you read it is says:

Existing paragraph 10.3©(2) IS amended to read as follows:

All Finger Lakes except for Cayuga Lake, Otisco Lake, Owasco Lake and Skaneateles Lake.

Brown trout, Rainbow trout, Lake trout, Landlocked salmon

All year

15"

5 in combination. Catch shall include no more than 1 rainbow trout or 3 Landlocked salmon.

Now I am confused, IS it changed or isn't it? Think I may give a call to the DEC office Monday to find out.

The limit does NOT change to 5 lakers until the start of the new license year -October 1st. At that time, the limit will be 5 lakers on Seneca, Canandiagua, Keuka, Canadice and Hemlock. It will remain at 3 lake trout on Cayuga, Owasco and Skaneateles.

Only if passed! It would start Oct 1, 2012. This is per info from Dec fisheries included in the diary program. It is still a proposal.

DEC proposals are pretty much a done deal unless there was a huge negative response during the public comment period. All of the people I spoke with are in favor of the proposed changes, so I've confident they will "pass".

They should allow a 10 lake trout limit on Keuka lake. There is way to many in there. And not enough forage for all trout species. In my opinion. You don't get very many big ones out of there anymore.

711 is correct, will take effect Oct 1 IF passed which it probably will.

Mr Walleye is also correct, way too many lakers in Keuka.

We'll do our part sat to take 9 out of the pool.
