Thats too bad. Always liked his show , even though I have never done any saltwater fishing. His was more of a how to do , not watch me do type of show. Prayers go out to his family.

Damn, just saw this post and hadn't heard. Great show, and he definitely understood that fishing can be more than just chasing fish- he had a way of making every trip sound almost religious.

He's going to be missed. My 9 year old girl likes to sit and watch his show with me on Friday nights. He came across as a master of his craft and a great guy.

My condolences to his family :( ...he was my most loved fisherman on TV. I would stop what ever I was doing and come in the house, sit and live vicarious through him for 30 minutes in his show. I looked up his plane and it was an experimental, but he owned it since 2006. An aerocomp with turbo prop 200 HP engine.

His project for the construction of his kit plane.

Rest in peace Jose and may your seas be calm forever. You will be missed but not forgotten.

I met him once in key west. I told him that I watched his show all the time. I asked him for tips on permit because I was going out the next day. He spent 1/2 hr teaching me how to fish for those permit. I caught 6 the next day because of his teaching.

I will miss him. My most sincere condolences to his family. A great teacher and fisherman.
