How much weight can mag 10's heft

Just acquired 2 mag 10's. What is the upper limit I can go with the downrigger weight? Can they gracefully heft a 16 pounder?

Depends on the age. I have the newer high retrieval ones and have no problems with 15lb sharks. I think the older ones are rated lower, I could be wrong but I thought I read the newer ones are good to 20lbs.

I beleive that the older Mag 10 Marlins had a max of 12#.....Zeke & Cyn(Strike 3)

They work good with 13lb weights, but I wouldn't go any higher.

I second the 13# without issues. Been doing it for nine years so far and still going.

I run some older mag 10's and like those who posted before me, 13lb is my limit. They are slow enough the way it is, but knock on wood , I've had no problems.

we have some older ones and are using 13# torpedos. They come up quite slow. When I mean quite slow, i mean slow as hell.
