I've had to replace the long cable that runs from the readout to the antenna twice in about 8 years or so.

The internal connection in the plug broke from plugging and unplugging every trip as I keep my electronics in the cabin when the boat is not in use.

Might want to check that.

As long as you have the dot on the display, the power head should be ok. Power does have a direct path to the battery right? and not thru any boat electronics terminals? Like above, I'm guessing a connection.

Paddle wheel rotates freely? Coated cable?

When you unscrew the cap, you don't have any water coming out do you? New battery?

If you've gone thru everything in the manual, you might want to call moor electronics. www.moorelectronics.com

sounds like you have a small nick in the coated rigger cable in the range above the sub troll because of the intermittent operation right before pulling it out of the water. inspect carefully as a fray in the wire will cause a short
