They are called hitch pins and also known as R clips.

You can find them in hardware stores and the size that I have found that work great for brown trout are only 23 cents each. You just twist a loop in your line and clip then into the hitch pin and you will find that they will slide easly down your planner line. When you go to the hardware store take a peice of the line you use for brown trout so you can check the hitch pin release tension you feel that is correct for you.

Glad to hear the releases are working for you. I changed to a smaller release then the one I gave you.It works better for browns but I did fined another way to use the size one you have. You can use it on the downrigger cable to run extra rods as sliders. Just put it on your downrigger cable the same way as you do your planner line but do not put it on a coated cable because it will damage the coating
