Is it typical to run the spoons clean or run them behind a flasher? Seems like if they are hitting spoons behind dipseys they would be apt to take a spoon behind a flasher...

They would.

Usually run the spoons about 4 ft behind.

I don't need to do it often but it works at times.

Also if they are hitting spoons, it's more fun to battle the fish without the attractor.

I was running a clean spoon behind a clear dipsy this weekend up there, 9 ft behind the dipsy with 30 lb florocarbon, took 2 kings on that set up, rest where frog colored paddles with flys.

Was wondering yesterday if I should use a flasher but choose not to. I got a king and a laker off of spoons behind dipsy's. Might try flasher next time out. Never hurts to experiment I guess.

I would rather put a flasher ahead of a fly than a spoon.

I like my spoons clean after a 6 oz drop weight, or a No 0 dipsey. And use at least 8 to 10 ft of lead line (floro).
