my gps wont read a new chip

i have a humminbird 798 color screen its older and whene i pt a new chip in it it will not read the chip as if there is no chip. i know people have had to "update" their units. how do i go about updating my unit to accept a new "Premium Navionics chip"?

, open account , put your unit in , then click for updates , download to a SD card , put card in you unit , ( mine will do it by it self only draw back is it resets unit back to factory setting ).....

...... or it could be you just have to poke around in your menu , and change one setting ......seems like that is more likely........
