Alright I have been reading the posts on this site and many others regarding fishing the finger lakes (mainly cayuga) for along time and have gained some very useful info that will at least give a direction to lean toward for upcoming trips. I have been fishing cayuga for 17 years and really never took it seriously always used the excuse it's just nice to be out and enjoy. well over the last two years I have put tons of time in on the lake, on this site and others like it and w/ my nose in books. To make a long story short I have been doing very well this year trolling for Lakers, browns, salmon and the occasional rainbow. So I wanted to first take the time to thank all the people who have provided me w/ the know how. Now I fish every weekend - catch fish and have a ball.

BUT I wanted to give some back to the site and it's members/readers. I wanted to let everyone know that yes we did fish the Tourny last weekend caught a running ton of fish. I know we lost a few that would have placed us on the board and had respectable catches each day.

So here is our fishing report: we had 3 hot spoons all made by Dave at R/R Tackle (mytacklebox.com) 1. Barney. 2. #28 Black/Grape -Glow Belly and 3. Grape/ Chart w/ Black eye. We used his new 8in Assassins attractors in all different colors. We Ran our riggers at 90 and 105 down w/ sliders and our dipseys anywhere from 210 to 165 back and kept a speed of 2.6 to 2.1.

We stayed south and did all our fishing from Crow Bar Pt to 1 Mile North of Taughannock. We ranged our depth from 125 to 350 (no pattern there).

Hopefully this post will be helpful and satisfy the people who complain that there are only readers and few who post. I will try to offer up valuable info as often as i can. And would hope now that I broke the ice others will share what they did this past weekend on Cayuga.

Lastly Checkout R/R tackle, I have only known Dave for a short time and can't say enough good things about him and his product and to top it off he's a local small business owner right in Broome County who has fished the lake we fish.

And hopefully I can meet some of you in time and we can share tip and stories face to face. I keep my boat in a slip at finger lakes marina at meyers pt. So I don't have the luxury of seeing people at the launches and unfortunately 99% of the people in the marina don't fish.

Keep your heads above water!

Nice report John. That's one of the purposes of this site, to make good fiahermen even better. There's a lot of folks on this site that really know what the heck they're doing and it's great that they share their knowledge and years of experience. I've met some great folks and learned a lot that has improved my catch ratio on Lake O.

As for the lurkers, it's only a matter of time before they come out of the dark side and join in the conversations. We can all learn something new, no matter how insignificant it may seem at the time to the poster or how long we've been on the water.

Keep the reports coming and post a pic or two.

Mower,

I don't make reports on the board anymore, cause by the time I get back to the tube my reports are a few days old, but if somebody wants info

I'll PM them or give it to them over the cell. We could use a site for reports like the one in the big lake section, that would cut down on some of the lurkers who fish for info but never give back. Have never ran into you and

I'm right next door in Meyers. Would have gladly shared info with you.

Anybody who knows me knows that I'll give up any info I have to help

a fellow fisherperson, even if it's derby time. I'm sure I'm not the only

one works this way.

Till next season

John, good post. I myself learned a lot from these boards and try to repay what I've learned, I figure it's good karma. I don't post here though mostly b/c I spend most of my time on another board, but I'm around and happy to help whoever. (Sounds like you've fished Cayuga approximately 14 years more than I so maybe not, but hey anyone with a question.)

I'm not a troller for deep trout but I have been learning some shallow water light line stuff this year, it's been fun. A lot of the time I'm one of those boats parked in one area jigging for lakers. Last weekend I did well with white jigs down 90-100 feet on the bottom. I fish out of Taughannock 75% of the time. Have fun and good luck out there!
