The cut is closed until the Monday following the 2nd weekend of the month. So around June 11th the dig will start. The bay is close to 2' higher than the lake so when they first open it LOOK OUT

Looking at buying a place on Port Bay or East Bay. Is the channel to East Bay kept open? I have a 22' Starcraft with an outboard so I don't need alot of water to get around.

Gotcha. Yeah I know Sodus Bay is open.

How shallow are we talking for the channel to blind Sodus?

Thoughts on a bassboat fitting?

The East Bay channel is not open all year. The DEC requires it be closed in the fall to prevent the draining of the wetlands south of the bay. It's kind of a waste though, since mother nature opens and closes the channel several times throughout the winter and spring. I've taken my 19' SeaNymph through it this year and it hasn't been dredged yet. The channel will, however, be closed in early June for the application of weed treatment, then dredged for the season.
