Trying to find a combo unit for my boat. Trying to stay under $700. I found a great deal on the humminbird unit which usually retails around $1,000. Not really sure if I care about Si. I know a lot of guys like raymarine . Also has a bigger screen. Also can get the Raymarine preloaded with Great lakes maps. Any input??

Here are links to the 2 units:

A buddy of mine is selling a Raymarine unit a little bigger than the one your looking at. I love my birds, but whatever fits the budget and gets you out there! You don't need side imaging. So, look for a 750 series....it might be a little cheaper.

I have same ray unit. Those preloaded maps only chart out to 40 feet, as in coastal. I hav e yet to try it on ontario. 3 yr warrenty. Lots of screen options. I like the reliability of raymarine.

Yankee, I was thinking the same thing about the side imaging. It's pretty cool but I'm not fishing bass and crappie so its pretty worthless. I've been leaning more towards the raymarine because of the add ons I can do with the auto piolet and the sirrus weather.

Any idea what's more user friendly?

As far as your Buddy's unit, its a little out of my budget. He wants a 1000 bucks and i don't believe I can use a thru hull transducer on an aluminum hull. I just got done restoring this boat and just dropped about 3 dimes on big Jon gear and a fish hawk x4 today. Budget is getting tight. Gotta buy kicker too.
