SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

Am thinking of making the 100 mile (one-way) drive to fish out of Stoney Creek launch; last time we did a few browns near Drowned Island; any new reports for that area? I read that fishing has slowed a bit in the Eastern basin , but am hoping that area might still be worth the drive. Perhaps better to go deep near the Wall, but I would like to target browns rather than lakers!

We fished on Saturday between drowned island and sandy pond and caught 6 browns. Fish came 45 to 50 over 55 to 60' on michigan stinger spoons. Biggest browns were 6, 8 and 10#'s. 2.4 mph.

We fished browns on Stony Point and did well with Michigan Stingers and J11 Rapalas on weight rods off the planer boards. Similar program as above with natural colored spoons/stickbaits. We also did well in the trench 25 to 45 down over 90'. We did have to compete with a lot of boats in the trench, so I'd shoot for drowned island or off the lighthouse in 60 fow.
