I know this is an old thread.  I have 9 6 dipsy wire rods with twilli tips...

I dont want to wrap the leader around the dipsy.  Is there a way  to leave the dipsy on the rod and attach a leader and store it that way to avoid having  to assemble on the water.

You can use a pipecleaner to attach the dipsy to the reel. Then wrap the leader around the reel a few times and then connect to an eye further up the rod. Pipecleaners are reusable and cheap!

Strap diver to rod seat with Amish Velcro strap. Wrap leader around reel and use hair zingy through swivel to tension leader end by wrapping around drag or line counter etc. simple and keeps tension on wire which is critical- Never undo anything that will have to be redone to fish UNLESS necessary

0-Copy(2).thumb.jpg.ee37589b921a00067f70af15cbffd53c.jpgI use a 3 inch piece of 2 inch pvc, a piece of pool noodle to wrap the leader around and a diver dock made by Rapala. I have one on each side of the boat screwed into the side. Stored this way I always let the dipsy out on the right side.

This is how I store mine. I have dipsys set up for spoons and flasher flys so I like storing them in my box. Also I keep spare leaders tied up for fast replacement. I learned that from Jeff J.

this is a great method of storage. Easy enough to assemble as you let the rods out.

Take the diver off the rod as they only blow around when running, wrap the leader around the diver and done.

I use a slide divers a lot and also regular dipseys . I use braid exclusively so I don't have to worry about kinks

I leave my divers on all the time . I wrap the line around the reel and hook the snap or spoon on to a guide about half way up so the diver is midway on the rod or so .

A guy gave me about 100 ft of this flat nylon rope . I cut off 2 ft , burn the ends and put an overhand knot . I criss cross the diver around the rod and tie a square knot .

Works awesome . Cheap .

Some sort nylon braided rope 1/4 inch should do the same .
