9/18 Russell

Played hookie today & launched before sunup at the Genny this morning. Clear sky & slight SE wind. Made 1 pass at river with J’s, looked behind me & saw 16 boats :roll: so headed towards Russell in 20-25 FOW. Lots of marks in the flotsam to about ½ way. Spent some time off Russell & had a huge brown up to the boat off Russell on a Mongoose 28 (14 over 22) but blew it with the net.

Headed out to 100 FOW & picked up a small colorful Brown on a Blk/Slver dodger-Fly at about 90. Very exciting screen in 85-90 FOW. Didn’t see bait clouds like that all year. Drastic temp change over 95 FOW with 100 ft of cable out. Blowback difference between 1 & 2 ½ mph took it from 44 to 62F.

Back in front of the river just before noon. Some screen activity in 55 FOW but no takers. Saw a charter net a good sized king in front of CG station in the river.

Met Jax & Fishinman at Launch. Nice meeting you guys. Tried to call on VHF couple of times. Oh well, hope you did better that I did.
