Kicker won't keep speed

My kicker via a tiller will not keep the speed... It's a 93 Johnson 9.9 and i will get it up to going my speed then it will continuously slowdown over the next 5 minutes to an idle. Then I gotta go back and turn it up again. Now I looked into trollmaster but it looks like they don't make them for a motor that old. Is there anything I cando to fix this?

should be a friction knob at the end of the handle...or make one of these

Friction knob won't move... And that is pretty cool

take the tiller handle apart and check the springs/tensioners and make sure they're in good shape. Had to do it on our johnson 30 horse tiller last year
