We saw these blooms last year on Sodus and Port Bays, Sodus being worse. We've already heard of some showing up on Sodus this year, much earlier than last year. Definitely something to keep an eye on if you frequent these waters! :(

I fished Sodus last year and I found it to be annoying but I didn't know it was toxic. I had to avoid a few areas on Honeoye Lake Saturday. Like the article said, I thought it was a normal occurence. I just didn't know about the cyanotoxins. I will look forward to Brian Williams talking about it on NBC Nightly News.

I did not read any of the article but cyano algea is typically a bacteria rather than an actual algea that is plant material.....just the ignorant Guy chiming in. Either way too much is not good

This is a problem in Lake Erie, particularly around the Islands. It looks like green (sometimes even red) paint floating on top of the water.
