I was rooting through an old tackle box came across a bunch of spoon blanks and got the bright idea to paint some up.

My question is what kind of paint should I use and should the final coat be some sort of clear coat?

Will krylon spray paint work?

Thanks in advance.

I've been painting prototype spoons for Dreamweaver for several years. Automotive laquers will be your best option but they can be hard to deal with. If you're experienced with an airbrush there are several commercial airbrush laquers that work well. I use Krylon Clear coat and a hair dryer to finish.

Keep in mind that unless you are willing to use auto laquers and bake the final product you will get "fish damage" and paint coming off. But, since you only have a few minutes (at most) into each spoon its still cost effective.

Have fun and don't be afraid to show your creations.
