Pretty sure you have to tap the head to use the heli coils. That means taking the head off so you can clean/remove the metal shavings so they aren't left in the combustion chamber; but that is your best bet.

i researched the heli coils and i guess alot of grease on the tap is the best bet for catching shavings.

im not sure if I should try it myself or call a mechanic. thanks for the replies

maybe someone that reads and has any other ideas?

Grease on tap is correct. If you miss a little, the shavings are aluminum and very soft. I've done several and never removed the head.

They are pretty easy to do yourself.

You can flush it of with a shopvac or blow it out with compress air. done it many time on car engine

When you break the s/s tang off, make sure that is removed as well.

Small needle-nose pliers work well, if the head is left on.
