SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

====================

Since we didn't have time to pre-fish this event and some big kings were caught off Fair Haven the day before, we decided to fish east of Fair Haven near some of our previous waypoints. We left the chute at 4:30am and were greated with 2-4's out of the NW, but with a light wind. We motored out to 165 fow and at 5am set lines continuing on a northerly troll. Before we could set the wire rods, the port side rigger fired and started screaming! :clap: After a short fight we had a decent 15 lb king inthe box. Over the next hour it was non-stop action and by 6am we had 6 fish in the box including one pushing 20 lbs! :P So the rest of the day we kept upsizing. The hits came in flurries with lulls in between. By 1pm we were 19 for 23 (4 steelhead, 15 kings) and had a decent box to head back to port with. 8)

We had our riggers parked at 122 and 95 with free sliders pulling spoons, and the wires out 220-300 pulling spin-docs and flies. All rods took shots, and the following lures hooked up: Black green glow mag NK, UV Black Tuxedo Stinger Mags and Stingrays, Carmel Dolphin Stinger Mag, Green with White Tape and Green Dots Spin Doc with Ultra Green Glow Fly, Wonderbread Spin Doc with Glow Hammer Fly, Gator Spin Doc with 42 Second Fly, and White with Green Dots Spin Doc with Ultra Green Glow Fly.

At weigh-in it was evident most teams had a great morning on the big pond, and many fish over 20 lbs were boated! It really looked like the Fair Haven Challenge in August rather than the ATOMMIK Challenge in June!! :o Despite having a great box totalling 92.85 lbs (152.85 pts), we ended up in the middle of the pack, as the larger concentration of larger kings were found further east off Oswego. :$ So even though we didn't place, it was an amazing tournament with incredible catches by many teams, and we had a blast fishing that morning! 8)

We'd like to thank Tom for putting on a great tournament, and we even scored a few bags of goodies!! 8) Congrats to Team Hot Wires for their 135+ lb box!! :o That's simply amazing for June!! We'll see everyone at the east end Pro-Am's coming up in a few weeks!! If the fishing remains like this, teams are going to need 2 coolers at weigh-in!! :P
