I had a 4.4 hp two stroke on a 14' starcraft. If I had 45' of cable out the drag of the cables would slow the boat down. You had to run it wide open and it still wasn't fast enough.

I have a mercury 6hp four stroke(same as nissan i think) on my Glastron walkaround 24 ft.(4000 lb rig) I like it and had no problem since new (3 years ).Use it to troll 2.5 to 3.5 mph without any problem in low to mediun wind.Never stall during operation.(I use it approx 5 hours by fishing trip)When too windy ,i use my main motor for trolling(200hp).I recommend it .

I have a 6hp kicker on my 22' Islander and it pushes the boat along nicely. When it gets too windy, I have to switch over to the main engine.

My 10 HP Honda trolls nice and it brought me in at 7 MPH when I had a problem with my main engine. You have to connect it with an EZ Steer rod and both engines have to be in the water to steer to port safely. The other engines lower unit acts like a rudder. I put a bungee cord on the EZ Steer rod to keep it from separating.
