I would use your pressure washer. Some may say try a little acid, but I would never use it on the metal outdrive (my new Verado has a NO ACID sticker right on it). Don't use a green scrungy pad either. You may also find that if you take it to the beach, get out and scrub it in the water will go a long way. Pulling it and letting it dry on the outdrive on your way home makes it a lot harder to remove.

Mary Kate On & Off Hull and Bottom Cleaner. Used it on my 89 Mercruiser until '07 without a problem. They also make an outdrive cleaner. Be careful on the zincs.
