split rings ?

I bought some spoons that I had to put my own hooks and splitrings on.......the hooks are working out GREAT ............today I had a good landlock on came out of the water two times then thrashed around on top got him coming to the boat !!!!!!!! gone.......the spoon came back with just the splitring on it ?????

So what's the best to buy and where !!!!
