liters off a downrigger

Going to the big O on saturday and going to fish the weekend. I am running 30lb main line off my rods and am wondering what the proper liter setup is... Or do you run your spoons/ rigs off of your main line?

some will use a few feet of Fluorocarbon for their Leaders behind a ball bearing swivel.

I just run the main line to the item fishing with. 20 # for lures and 30 # for flashers. That is unless the fleas are present. Then 30 # for every thing.
