I would recommend some calm water to start. Mendon Pond, ironedquoit Bay, Hemlock, Conesus, etc. lots of fun fishing from a kayak, and certain techniques work better (from a kayak) than others. I fish on Conesus from a kayak every weekend and do okay. PM me and I'd be glad to show you around anytime. Good luck and have fun!

I had one of the best bass fishing days of my life fishing Mendon Ponds. If you go in the entrance where the Sheriffs keep there horses go to the first pond on the left...fish the lily pads use heavy line with any kind of top water lure and hang on !!! Good luck.

What tcon said is true...that is Deep Pond... nice northerns and some decent crappie and really nice 'gills in there, too. Same is true with the little pond around the corner on Douglas Rd as well as the main (Hundred Acre Pond) lake. Hitting the pads with fly rod poppers or sponge bugs works great on the bass and gills, especially in the middle of the day on hot summer afternoons!
