Anyone know how to lock an add-a-line into place?

At the oak webpage says to 'jerk the line clipping to it into place.' I have tried this and it seems the rig would still slide on the line. By jerking it you form a loop on the inside of the add-a-line guides. This loop isn't really locked and more line can slide into it making the loop bigger. Must be doing something wrong

just toss it over the side, water pressure/drag from the spoon will hold it in place on the main line once it's in the water.
