I have been fishing the lake with Heartland med action rods. i just set two rods up with Ugly stick light action (8'3"). My thought are to have a little more fun with the lighter rods. I am also second guessing if they are to light.

Thoughts?

you will be fine as long as you have good drags

I have used them on big kings in the past, you can do it and as stated , but you better have a good drag system. They will hold up, but a 30# plus shark will max them out.

I use them for summer browns.

We run the 9' light ugly sticks with no problems so far. Haven't got bit by a 30+lb yet, but many in the 20-27 lb range with no problems. Ours are paired with shimano charter specials..works well for all species.
