I snowmobile across Piseco and have always seen alot of shanties out during the winter , but I've never fished it. Most of the shanties have sleds parked next to them, so I'm assuming it's quite the haul to get out .

I haven't been there in a few years because the icefishing really dropped off. You'll be lucky if you pull a legal Laker out of there and the Salmon are just about non-existing. Fishing pressure is intense as well. To me it's not worth the effort and the drive. However the Lakers will cooperate. Try hunt baits or smelt if you can get them. Light leaders and size 10 trebles worked good. You can jig them up as well. Salmon, if there's any in there, will be just under the ice to about 15ft down. Same rigs and bait will take them. Good luck

Last year was a very good year for legal fish. I fished four times on ice and pulled 6 legal lakers and plenty of dinks and had one medium sized salmon. But we never marked much bait because it never stayed in one place. There's big fish just have to dig through to them.

That's good for there. We usually go with 5 or more guys/gals, and if 2 of us pull a legal Laker that's a good day. Biggest we ever caught was a 24" Laker and a 25" Salmon. Maybe the lake is starting to come back.

I try to get on at least one different body of water each year, vs Oneida, or Ontario.

I may have to give it a go.
