So I decided to try for summer browns this past wednesday for the first time just to switch it up a little bit from walleye fishing. Walleye gear seems to match up pretty good for browns. Managed to land six nice browns and one skippy king. I focused primarily on 60-80 fow because that seemed to be where most of the bait was. Looking for some pointers.

Was I fishing to deep? Don't have speed/temp sensor so just looked for bait on the bottom.

How about speed? I tried to keep it at 2.2-2.5 on the GPS.

Any spoon colors / sizes work better? I caught most of the fish on an NK28 Frog pattern. I don't have many spoons, a couple stingers, a couple NK 28, a few DW SS's, and some Contenders. Silver, gold, and copper backs.

A dipsy run off braid outproduced the riggers. How long of a lead off the ball? I ran 45 and 65 back.

I will most likely be out of either Olcott or Oak when I head up that way.

Thanks for the info.

Sounds like you did fine.

some top producing spoons this year: Moonshine's geezer (standard), Green shorts (std), Ratchet Jaw

Add in some gold goby patterns from stinger or DW!!

Chicken wing (SHCW) and KFC Special (SH212) both stingers, did very nice for me in the past few weeks, specially because these lures are not only great brown lures but they also attract kings and steelies.
