I fish with a guy who ties all his spoons directly to his main line... Just outta curiosity Is this a good practice or should you definitely run a swivel to prevent twisting of you main line. It seems to me like the action on you spoon would be better with a swivel. He said the reason why he does it is because there is less chance for failure without swivels beedchains and such.

Put a GOOD QUALITY swivel on it. Change lures don't cut your line to do it. Failure happens when tying knots and one will fail outta 3 on average due to haste cold fingers, or  ,

Alright thanks guys. What about running dipsys though, you have multiple connections. Should you run all swivels or tie direct to the dipsy/spin doctor/fly?

I like to take the dipsy off the rod when done fishing, use a heavyweight swivels 90 lb. Plus.

Leader end you can tie to the tail ring if you want, but do use a swivel on lure end.

I use a lot of swivels but i tie all my flouro leads from dipsey to flasher or flasher to lure at home well before i go anywhere. This way i can do it till its perfect and not have to worry about poor quality knots due to the above mentioned by skipper.
